background
Raised the son of a minister, I learned early the value of hard work and honesty. Those values have shaped my life, my personal philosophies and the things I do.I've worked much of my life outdoors, in construction, outside sales/delivery with some balance in retail sales and for the past 20 years for the Postal Service.
I'm one of those rare postal employees who believe privatization of the system would be a good thing were it done properly, that not all management is evil and not all union members are righteous.
beliefs and philosophies
- My Worldview
- About government
- Governmental entitlement programs
- On taxes
- Federal spending
- My view of the drug problem
- On living life
The primary driving force behind my personal outlook and philosophies is my relationship with Jesus Christ. My worldview is shaped by his word, the Bible. The basis of the dignity of all men and women, of all races and ethnic groups can be found in his teaching in the Bible. I believe there is a clear line between right and wrong and that moral relativism is the greatest degenerative factor in today's society.

Government is to be kept to a minimum, as outlined by the founding fathers. This major foundational basis of our nation has been diluted and over run by those who would use government as a means to satisfy their own hunger for power and control. The major entitlement programs in our government, though good in intention, are being used to sway and motivate the voter to a particular party.

One of the purposes of the church is to take care of the "widows and children." The church has relinquished this responsibility to the government. In doing so they have also weakened their voice and influence on mankind. I applaud those churches and para-church organizations that are once again reaching out to meet the needs of those who have met difficult times. Most important in meeting those needs is teaching folk to become self-dependent.

Recent spending bills passed in Congress are proof there is little difference between the parties when it comes to using the hard earned monies of the consumer to advance and retain hold of political office. There is a driving philosophy among politicians that tax dollars belong to the government (a.k.a. Congress) rather than a sacred trust belonging to the people to be spent minimally and carefully.

I believe we must reduce the federal budget to a minimal level by having government provide only those services as provided for by the constitution.

A Drug Problem
I had a drug problem when I was young.
I was drug to church on Sunday mornings.
I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.
I was drug to family reunions no matter the weather.
I was drug to the bus stop to go to school every weekday.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults and teachers.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents.
Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in every thing I do, say, and think.
They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of a drug problem, America just might be a better place.

I believe you cannot spend your life totally focused on the failures and inequities around you. That will make you a very tired and angry individual. You cannot live a life wishing you had made different choices, make the best of what you have. Take time to smell the roses, enjoy life, friends and family. After you are gone, all that you earned, all that you owned, all that you struggled to attain will remain. The only legacy each of us has is in the memories we leave behind. How will your family and friends remember you?
