Supporting our Troops
As we become aware of credible ways to show your support for our troops and the effort in Iraq and elsewhere, we will include them here.
Do you know someone who wants to show their support for our troops?  Send them this page by inserting their e-mail address below and click send.

This effort to share the love and generosity of the American people to the children of Iraq is being championed by "Chief Wiggles", an Army National Guard interrogator/debriefer at a palace in Baghdad, Iraq.

He first came to my attention when he was mentioned in an article in World Magazine referring to his
BOLG (weblog) where he recounts the thoughts, feelings and opinions of one serving in country.  This is real time stuff folks.

From the Operation Give website:

Operation Give coordinates the collection and distribution of toys and other items for Iraqi children. After years of tyranny and war, the children of Iraq have almost nothing and are very grateful. With each toy we give to a needy child, we put a smile on their face and hope in their heart.

Operation Give offers Four Ways to Give, so you can find the way to give that works for you. You can send your own package. You can get inexpensive toys through our website that we ship in bulk. You can buy items from Internet retailers and designate Operation Give as the recipient for us to forward to Iraq. You can donate money for Operation Give to buy and ship toys for Iraqi children. Because Operation Give is 100% volunteer driven, your entire donation goes to the kids. Right where it should be.

We collect gifts at our Maryland warehouse, inspect and sort the contents, repackage them, then put the gifts in huge shipping containers bound for Iraq.

A soldier affectionately known as Chief Wiggles and his crew of volunteers distribute the gifts to the children of Iraq.

To give, mail your donations to:

If you're wondering if the effort to send support and encouragement is worth the trouble, check these letters written in response to the National Treasury Employees Union Operation Shoebox drive.
Our purpose is to encourage citizens to support their fighting men and women deployed overseas in these dangerous times.

Take time today to send a package. If you don't have a family member deployed overseas, check with your friends, colleagues, or church members to get the address of someone who is serving. See our
Links page to get names and addresses of service people.

Check our
web site for information on what to send. If you have already sent packages, please tell us how many you've sent.   We'd like to get an idea what the response has been.

Operation ShoeBox continues to send packages to the troops and we encourage you to do the same. Our troops will be deployed for a long time and will need our continuing support.
