Music plays a large role in our lives. We love to listen and sing a wide variety
of styles. Yet there are a few we prefer over all the others.

Hearts of Praise sings a variety of contemporary Christian music and is often requested
to sing at events around the area. They have sung at the Festival
of Trees at the Appleton Museum, often minister at the Marion County Jail, at various
senior centers, the Marion County Fair and at business special events such
as last years Christmas opening event at Griffin's Crafts on State Road
200. Karen has recently cut back on some of her singing activities including Hearts of Praise, which disbanded when our director, Larry Noel and his wife, Geneva, moved to Ohio in 2002. While Karen was singing Contemporary Christian music in Hearts of Praise, Steve was singing with a group of men in the church focusing on traditional and contemporary Souther Gospel. He enjoyed singing songs such as "Saved By Grace" , "Bound for the Kingdom", "What A Savior", and such Gathier Vocal Band songs as "Yes I Know" and Gold City's "I Believe". Work and health concerns has dictated that he pull back some, hopefully, temporarily. Music remains an important part of our lives. Karen loves Praise and Worship music from such groups as Hillsong, Lakewood Church and the World Power Center. Easy listening music, some might call it "elevator" music is tops on her list, her favorite station is Jones College Radio in Jacksonville, FL. She also loves smooth jazz, especially featuring the sax. Steve's musical tastes tends to run a little wider and includes jazz artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Spyro Gyra, Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. Southern Gospel music by such artists as The Cathedrals, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Talleys, Jesse Dixon, Miss Lilly Knauls, The Isaacs, Anthony Burger, Squire Parsons, Janet Paschal and The Martins. Steve's Contemporary Gospel tastes go to 4 Him, Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day, FFH, Salvador, The Katinas, Rachael Lampa, Michael W. Smith, Nicole C. Mullen and many others. Among other styles, Steve listens to Pop, Classical Guitar, Big Band, Swing and some of the Golden Oldies (50's and 60's). Much of todays contemporary secular music just doesn't cut it. Thumbs down to Rap especially. Favorite radio stations include The Joy FM in Sarasota, FL and The Island located near Tahiti for smooth Jazz. Selah Street is an album of original praise and worship music written, performed and recorded by my brother Dan Montgomery. To learn more about Selah Street Click here.
