Letters from Iraq

Greetings from the Command Officer

16 Jan 2005

Well as of today all of our personnel and equipment has arrived here in Iraq. Things here on the Air Base are pretty nice. Right now we are in tight quarters because we are Co-located with the unit we are replacing. Once they leave we will have plenty of room. The food here is better than Kuwait, but the phones and Internet are not as accessible. We will assume the mission in about 10 days.

We will be operating out of 5 different locations. I plan to spend time at all of them in order to identify needed upgrades. We start flying our local area orientations soon and the transition will happen quickly because so many of the soldiers were here last year. Everyone in the unit is fine and seem to be excited about assuming the mission. We will be working with the Marines here. I have met their senior leaders and they are good officers. I know our relationship with them will be great.

Well thats all I have for now. I'll write again in a couple of weeks.
