Letters from Iraq
RELOCATION OF IRAQ CITIZENS FROM OUTSIDE FOB COBRA, JALULA,
IRAQ
So much of the news about Iraq is death and depravity. Following is a short account of one of our
success stories.
We successfully
negotiated and implemented better living conditions for the people in the following story. I hope you are proud
of the dignity and respect with which our soldiers treat our Iraqi
neighbors. It is saving lives in our
area of operations and helping the people of Iraq. Here is the story: “CPT Stuart, company commander in TF 252,
successfully negotiated the relocation of 200 Iraqi Citizens who were living
just outside the front gate at FOB Cobra.
The poor condition of the facilities was not safe for the people and
also allowed FOB Cobra to be easily targeted by Anti-Coalition Forces
(ACF). CPT Stuart arranged for the
people to move into vacant buildings in Jalula and provided building materials
and funds to make their new homes better for every family. It was a win-win situation.”

CPT Stuart is shown with the Jalula Deputy Mayor, town
council members, and family leaders at the new site.

The Head Sheik is shown at right with the 30 Brigade Combat
Team (BCT) Pay Agent, MSG Blackburn, and his assistant, SSG McCullen, during
disbursement of funds for new homes.
MAJ Stevens, BCT JAG, and CPT Williams, TF 252 S5, are shown in the
background. They were on site to assist
CPT Stuart and the people of Jalula.
Everyone present believed the transaction was mutually beneficial for
Coalition Forces(CF) and the Iraqi people.
