inner-city children, providing educational programs for children and families, and assisting children's hospitals around the world. Pastor Frank will be living on the billboard (I understand he will be coming down to take "necessary breaks" at the police headquarters next door) eating (catered by a resturant in nearby The Villages), taking care of normal office activities as he can, sleeping, counting donations and greeting visitors. He will have his laptop and an assortment of electronic devices with him so he won't be roughing it completely. And he has wireless internet access so he can be e-mailed to give support and encouragement. A website has been set up so you can visit on the net and check his daily diary. Pastor Frank is attempting to raise $20,000 for BGMC between Sunday, Nov 2 and Sunday, Nov 9. If you wish to help him you can donate securely online. A local news station WCJB, was at the bill- board to interview him as he mounted Sunday afternoon and will keep track through the week. At our church we are praying this is more than a sideshow and fundraiser, that it also becomes an evangelistic outreach to our community. |
The Ocala Billboard |
Sunday started a week of unusual ministry for our children's pastor at our church, First Assembly. At 2:00pm he took to the air and mounted a specially configured billboard on Pine Ave, one of the main streets here in Ocala. Pastor Frank is participating in Up In The Air For Kids, a special event focusing on raising funds for BGMC, Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade. This is a childrens ministry of the Assemblies of God to help supply funding for missions work. Some of the projects include meeting the needs of orphaned and abandoned children, assisting programs mentoring |
