This is one wise daddy! I'd also like to add another perspective here. While I fully support this war effort, I believe that we need to have a good hard look at ourselves in the mirror of God's Word. "It is time for people to be judged. It will begin with the family of God. And since it begins with us, what will happen to people who don't obey God's good news?" 1 Peter 4:17 I was reading in the Psalms last week & came across this passage ... "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Blessed are the people He chose to be His own. From heaven the Lord looks down & sees everyone. From His throne He watches all those who live on the earth. He creates the hearts of all people. He is aware of everything they do. A king isn't saved just because his army is big. A soldier doesn't escape just because he is very strong. People can't trust a horse to save them either. Though it is very strong, it can't save them. But the Lord looks with favour on those who respect (fear) Him. He watches over those who put their hope in His faithful love. He watches over them to save them from death. He wants to keep them alive when there is no food in the land. We wait in hope for the Lord. He helps us. He is like a shield that keeps us safe. Our hearts are full of joy because of Him. We trust in Him, because He is holy. Lord, may Your faithful love rest on us. We put our hope in You." Psalm 33:12-22 I have been thinking & praying much about the condition of our nations (Canada & USA) the past few years, especially after 9/11. It appears to me that the LORD has begun to taken away His "blessing/shield" because as nations we are no longer honouring Him with our conduct. I think I read somewhere that the highest rates of abortion occurs in North America. So who are we to point at a dictator who kills his own people when we allow babies to be killed before they even have a chance to breathe. Immorality is rampant in our countries (this is punishable by death in many Muslim countries). The church appears to be more concerned with its fancy buildings, comfortable pews & being entertained rather than going out & doing the job the LORD has called us to do of being HIS witnesses all around the world (Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world & many of their young people are willing to die for their false religious beliefs), etc., etc., etc. So I really believe what we need to be doing above all else is to be praying for the repentance of our people before worrying about the sins of other nations. Yes, we need to pray for the leadership of our countries. And yes, I'm glad the president of the USA is a believer from Texas with some guts and not that lily livered new ager that the popular vote wanted as their president. I read a interesting quote somewhere that went something like this ... "The USA voted for Gore, but God put Bush in power". Perhaps, as Mordecai said to Esther he was put into power for "such a time as this". But repentance is what we need above all else & perhaps the impetus should come from the top. I find it interesting that president Abraham Lincoln called his people to a time of prayer & repentance 3 times during the civil war, because he clearly saw that the war was a result of his people had wandered away from God. |
The following is a response by Dean Hardy to an earlier posting on this site: |

The oldest son of the first deaf missionaries to Jamaca, Dean is a minister to the deaf living in Toronto, Canada with his wife and more children than I can count. He is in demand as a speaker, traveling in the United States, the Carribean and South America. I am proud to also call him cousin. |
