Following is the official list of American military personnel killed in action supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004. Wood, 47, of Alva, Florida. Wood was fatally injured when the vehicle he was traveling in near Kabul, Afghanistan hit another vehicle. He was assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Army National Guard, based in Starke, Florida. January 29: Army Staff Sgt. Shawn M. Clemens, 28, of Allegany, New York. Clemens died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Army Spc. Robert J. Cook, 24, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Cook died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Army Sgt. Benjamin L. Gilman, 28, of Meriden, Connecticut. Gilman died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to 41st Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Army Spc. Adam G. Kinser, 21, of Sacramento, California. Kinser died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to the 304th Psychological Operations Company, U.S. Army Reserve, based in Sacramento, California. Army Sgt. 1st Class Curtis Mancini, 43, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mancini died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to the 486th Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, based in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Army Staff Sgt. James D. Mowris, 37, of Aurora, Missouri. Mowris died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to the 805th Military Police Company, U.S. Army Reserve, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Army Spc. Justin A. Scott, 22, of Bellevue, Kentucky. Scott died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Army Sgt. Danton K. Seitsinger, 29, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Seitsinger died west of Ghazni, Afghanistan, when a weapons cache prematurely exploded. He was assigned to the 486th Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, based in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Feburary 13: Army Sgt. Nicholes D. Golding, 24, of Addison, Maine. Golding died in Ghanzni, Afghanistan, as a result of an AT-46 (anti-tank) mine explosion. He was assigned to Company C, 2/87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Feburary 25: Army Spc. David E. Hall, 21, of Uniontown, Kansas. Hall died in Kabul, Afghanistan, in a non-hostile accident. He was assigned to 805th Military Police Company, 16th Military Police Brigade, U.S. Army Reserve, Raleigh, North Carolina. March 18: Sgt. Michael J. Esposito, Jr., 22, of Brentwood, N.Y. died in Dehrawood, Afghanistan, when their team came under small arms fire while clearing a village. Esposito was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. Staff Sgt. Anthony S. Lagman, 26, of Yonkers, N.Y. died in Dehrawood, Afghanistan, when their team came under small arms fire while clearing a village. Esposito was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. March 28: Army Command Sgt. Maj. Dennis Jallah, Jr., 49, of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Jallah died due to a non-combat cause in Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. He was medically evacuated from Afghanistan to Washington, D.C. via Landstuhl on February 16,2004. Jallah was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York. April 18: Army Master Sgt. Herbert R. Claunch, 58, of Wetumpka, Alabama. Claunch died in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, after collapsing on the floor in his quarters. He was assigned to the Army National Guard, 217th Military Police Company, Prattville, Alabama. April 22: Spc. Patrick D. Tillman, 27, of Chandler, Ariz., died in Afghanistan when his patrol vehicle came under attack. Spc. Tillman was assigned to the Army’s 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash. May 01: Spc. Phillip L. Witkowski, 24, of Fredonia, N.Y., died in Homberg, Germany, from non-combat related injuries sustained on April 30, in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Spc. Witkowski was assigned to the Army’s 7th Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light) from Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii. May 05: Pfc. Brandon J. Wadman, 19, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died in Afghanistan when his vehicle rolled over. Pfc. Wadman was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 265th Air Defense Artillery, Florida National Guard, West Palm Beach, Fla. May 08: Cpl. Ronald R. Payne Jr., 23, of Lakeland, Fla., died due to hostile action in the vicinity of Tawara, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Lejeune, N.C. May 15: Chief Warrant Officer Bruce E. Price, 37, of Maryland, died in Kajaki, Afghanistan, when individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire ambushed his unit. Price was assigned to the Army’s 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C. May 29: Capt. Daniel W. Eggers, 28, of Cape Coral, Fla., died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when his vehicle hit a land mine. Capt. Eggers was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), from Fort Bragg, N.C. Pfc. Joseph A. Jeffries, 21, of Beaverton, Ore., died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when his vehicle hit a land mine. Pfc. Jeffries was assigned to the Army Reserve’s 329th Psychological Operations Company, Portland, Ore Staff Sgt. Robert J. Mogensen, 26, of Leesville, La., died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when his vehicle hit a land mine. Staff Sgt. Mogensen was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C. Petty Officer 1st Class Brian J. Ouellette, 37, of Needham, Mass., was a U.S. Navy SEAL serving with Navy Special Warfare Group Two, Little Creek, Va. June 07: Cpl. David M. Fraise, 24, of New Orleans, La., died June 7 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device hit his patrol. Fraise was assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. June 20: Lance Cpl. Russell P. White, 19, of Dagsboro, Del., died due to a non-combat related incident at Camp Bulldog, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. June 24: Pfc. Daniel B. McClenney, 19, of Shelbyville, Tenn., died from hostile fire near Bari Khout, Afghanistan. Pfc. McClenney was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Lance Cpl. Juston T. Thacker, 21, of Bluefield, W.Va., died from hostile fire near Bari Khout, Afghanistan. Lance Cpl. Juston T. Thacker was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. June 30: Staff Sgt. Robert K. McGee, 38, of Martinsville, Va., died in Manila, Republic of the Philippines, of non-combat related injuries. McGee was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Wash. July 04: Spc. Julie R. Hickey, 20, of Galloway, Ohio, was evacuated from Bagram, Afghanistan, on June 30 and died in Landstuhl, Germany, on of complications from a non-combat related illness. Hickey was assigned to the Army Reserve’s 412th Civil Affairs Battalion, Whitehall, Ohio. July 12: Spc. Juan M. Torres, 25, of Houston, Texas, died in Bagram, Afghanistan, of non-combat related injuries. Torres was assigned to the 453rd Transportation Company, U.S. Army Reserve, Houston, Texas. August 7: Sgt. Bobby E. Beasley, 36, of Inwood, W.Va., died in Ghazikel, Afghanistan, when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. Sgt. Beasley was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 29th Infantry Division (Light Infantry), Winchester, Va. Staff Sgt. Craig W. Cherry, 39, of Winchester, Va. died in Ghazikel, Afghanistan, when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. Staff Sgt. Cherry was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 29th Infantry Division (Light Infantry), Winchester, Va. August 12: Sgt. Daniel Lee Galvan, 30, of Moore, Okla., died in Salerno, Afghanistan, when the helicopter he was in developed mechanical difficulties and crashed. Galvan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion (Assault), 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Light Infantry Division, from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. September 20: Staff Sgt. Robert S. Goodwin, 35, of Albany, Ga., died in Shkin, Afghanistan, when his patrol vehicle was ambushed by enemy forces using small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. Staff Sgt. Goodwin was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C. Staff Sgt. Tony B. Olaes, 30, of Walhalla, S.C., died in Shkin, Afghanistan, when his patrol vehicle was ambushed by enemy forces using small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. Staff Sgt. Olaes was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C. Spc. Wesley R. Wells, 21, of Libertyville, Ill., died in Naka, Afghanistan, when his observation post was fired on by anti-coalition militia forces. Wells was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. September 29: Staff Sgt. Alan L. Rogers, 49, of Kearns, Utah, died in Bagram, Afghanistan, of non-combat related injuries. Rogers was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment, West Jordan, Utah. October 14: Staff Sgt. Brian S. Hobbs, 28, of Mesa, Ariz., died in Miam Do, Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated near their dismounted patrol. Staff Sgt. Hobbs was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Spc. Kyle Ka Eo Fernandez, 26, of Waipahu, Hawaii, died in Miam Do, Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated near their dismounted patrol. Spc. Fernandez was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. October 19: Cpl. William M. Amundson Jr., 21, of The Woodlands, Texas, died in Afghanistan when the vehicle in which he was riding rolled over. Amundson was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga. October 21: Airman 1st Class Jesse M. Samek, 21, of Rogers, Ark., died from injuries he received when an Air Force HH-60 helicopter aircraft crashed during a medical evacuation mission in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 66th Rescue Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. October 27: Cpl. Billy Gomez, 25, of Perris, Calif., died at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, from injuries sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device on Oct. 20 in Naka, Afghanistan. Gomez was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. November 01: Spc. James C. Kearney, III, 22, of Emerson, Iowa, died in Salerno, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained in Sharan, Afghanistan, when his convoy was attacked by enemy forces using rocket propelled grenades. Kearney was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry, Glenwood, Iowa. November 21: Sgt. Michael C. O’Neill, 22, of Mansfield, Ohio, died in Landstuhl, Germany, of accidental injuries sustained on November 17 at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, during preparations for combat operations. O’Neill was assigned to the Army’s 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga. November 24: Cpl. Jacob R. Fleischer, 25, of St. Louis, Mo., died on in Deh Rawod, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their unit. Cpl. Fleischer was assigned to the Army's 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Cpl. Dale E. Fracker, Jr., 23, of Apple Valley, Calif., died on in Deh Rawod, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their unit. Cpl. Fracker was assigned to the Army's 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. November 27: Chief Warrant Officer Travis W. Grogan, 31, of Virginia Beach, Va., died in Bamian, Afghanistan, when his contract aircraft crashed. Chief Warrant Officer Grogan was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Lt. Col. Michael J. McMahon, 41, of Connecticut, died in Bamian, Afghanistan, when his contract aircraft crashed. Lt. Col. McMahon was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Spc. Harley D. R. Miller, 21, of Spokane, Wash,, died in Bamian, Afghanistan, when his contract aircraft crashed. Spc. Diaz, 26, of Rio Hondo, Texas, died in Sharona, Afghanistan, when his military vehicle rolled over.
